The Aims and Objectives of Captain Barclay Allardice Society 1779-1854 Include:
- To promote and preserve the public`s knowledge of the history of the life, work and achievements of Captain Robert Barclay Allardice of Ury (1779 to 1854)
- To educate the public by carrying out research projects, holding meetings and delivering lectures about the various aspects of the life and times of Captain Barclay Allardice of Ury, who was world famous in the period 1809 to 1845 for his athletic feats of "pedestrianism", agricultural improvement, the training of boxers and was one of the founders and main proprietors of the world famous "The Defiance" series of stage coaches which ran continuously from 1829 to 1849 throughout Scotland
- To preserve and promote access to his memorabilia, including the Houff Mausoleum at Ury, near Stonehaven, Kincardineshire
